Location: Adolescent Wellness Academy (AWA) – In-Person | Davie, FL
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Evening Hours Only)

About Us

Adolescent Wellness Academy (AWA) is a premier mental health treatment center offering Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs for adolescents aged 13–17. At the heart of our care model are five core values:

  • Choose Kindness
  • Contribute to the Whole
  • Spread Optimism
  • Deliver Results
  • Dare to Grow

These values are more than ideals—they shape how we show up for our clients, families, and each other. AWA fosters a collaborative, shared-space environment where team members work side-by-side, grounded in mutual respect and collective purpose. Our comprehensive, inclusive approach to therapy empowers adolescents to explore self-discovery, emotional healing, and long-term wellness.

About the Role

We are seeking a fully licensed mental health professional (LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT) to join our team as a Lead Primary Therapist. This position holds a critical leadership role in both therapeutic programming and crisis management.

You will maintain a caseload of adolescent clients while also serving as the Clinical Director’s primary support in urgent or crisis situations. The Lead Primary Therapist will guide the clinical team during behavioral escalations, support de-escalation efforts, and ensure safety and consistency in response protocols. This is an ideal position for a clinically sound, confident leader who thrives in high-touch, team-based care environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver individual, family, and group therapy to adolescent clients in your assigned caseload.
  • Lead real-time crisis intervention for the team; model and guide trauma-informed de-escalation strategies.
  • Act as the go-to clinical leader when the Clinical Director is unavailable during crisis or high-risk scenarios.
  • Create and manage individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based modalities such as DBT, CBT, and MI.
  • Facilitate structured group therapy sessions daily during program hours (4:00–8:00 PM).
  • Engage and educate families as collaborative partners in the treatment journey.
  • Collaborate in shared workspaces with clinical peers, contributing to a values-aligned team culture.
  • Attend and participate in weekly clinical meetings and ongoing team supervision.
  • Maintain compliance with DCF, Joint Commission, and ethical standards through timely, accurate documentation.
  • Embody and promote AWA’s values in all interactions—with clients, families, and colleagues.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Fully Licensed Clinician (LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT) in the State of Florida

Please note: Registered interns, those awaiting exam results, or provisionally licensed individuals are not eligible for this position. Licensure must be active and verifiable at time of hire.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with adolescents in a treatment center, IOP, PHP, or similar setting
  • Clinical experience in managing crisis situations and guiding others in trauma-informed care
  • Experience dealing with families and facilitating family therapy
  • Strong collaboration skills; thrives in shared office spaces and multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Must pass a Level 2 background screening and drug test
  • Spanish-speaking clinicians are strongly preferred
